On January 27, 2026, the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) hosted its first Collaboration Summit, bringing together representatives from real estate boards, brokerages, professional associations, and government for an open discussion on key priorities in Ontario’s real estate services sector.

The summit marked the beginning of a more open and ongoing dialogue between RECO and the sector, with discussions focused on three priority areas: annual brokerage financial filings, trust account oversight, and the insurance program.

The Honourable Stephen Crawford, Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement, also joined the summit to deliver remarks and underscore the importance of collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and consumer protection.

The Collaboration Summit was the first of several engagement opportunities RECO plans to host as part of its broader transformation and modernization efforts.

We appreciated the participation and solution-oriented conversation from leaders in the real estate sector on three priority areas: annual brokerage financial filings, trust account oversight, and the insurance program that will help RECO move forward in making positive changes for consumers and the sector.

RECO is committed to rebuilding trust with the sector through increased transparency, actions, and accountability.

We are pleased to share the key learnings and highlights from the conversation.
