RECO is looking for three (3) independent, non-Sector Directors to join its Board who have experience and an interest in enhancing consumer protection by contributing to an Ontario Regulator.  

RECO registrants are not eligible for these positions. 

What are we looking for?

To support the addition of independent, non-sector Directors, RECO is looking to fill three (3) vacancies on the Board of Directors for the following terms beginning in June 2024: 

  • One: two-year term
  • One: three-year term
  • One: four-year term

Diversity on the Board is a priority, and RECO seeks to continue to reflect community diversity as well as balance business acumen and geographical representation, within Ontario, to achieve RECO’s vision and mission. 

For the 2024 recruitment cycle, RECO is looking for candidates that have expertise in some of the following areas:

  • Consumer Protection
  • Finance
  • Enterprise risk
  • Communications 
  • Public relations 
  • Information Technology

Non-Sector Directors may not be drawn from the real estate services sector (registered brokers or salespersons, individuals who are directors, officers, employees, members or agents of registered brokerages; individuals who are directors, officers, employees, members or agents of an industry association representing the interests of registrants; or individuals who, within the one-year period before becoming considered as a non-Sector Director, met the description of any of the noted exclusions.)

Meetings/time commitment

  • Board Meetings: Six (6) per year
  • Committees: Directors sit on at least two (2) committees that meet four to six times a year
  • A minimum commitment of approximately 14 days per year should be expected
  • In-person meetings are generally held at RECO’s Toronto offices

Remuneration

RECO Board Directors are paid a per diem plus expenses.
