Purpose of the Committee
The Appeals Committee is a Statutory Committee established pursuant to Section 21 of REBBA 2002. The Appeals Committee will hear, consider and decide appeals related to Discipline Committee decisions.
Chair and Membership
The Appeals Committee is appointed by the Board of Directors and consists of a Chair, Vice-chair and at least three members, all of whom are knowledgeable about the duties and responsibilities of panel members. Under REBBA 2002 at least one member of the Committee shall never have been a registrant or a shareholder, officer, director or employee of a registrant or former registrant. Under REBBA 2002, RECO Board of Directors are prohibited from serving as discipline committee. members. The Chair may recommend the appointment of additional members to the committee

Panels of three persons will be drawn as required from a group of RECO members and non-registrants to serve on the Appeals Committee. At least one member of the panel shall never have been a registrant or a shareholder, officer, director or employee of a registrant or former registrant.

Duties, Functions or Responsibilities
The Chair of the Committee will establish panels in accordance with sections 42 to 53 of Ontario Regulation 580/05 under REBBA 2002: (The Vice-Chair may exercise and perform the powers and duties of the Chair on the request of the Chair or if the Chair is absent or unable to act.)
- To hear appeals of dispositions of the Discipline Committee established pursuant to section 21 of REBBA 2002.
- To render fair and appropriate decisions in a timely fashion.

Appeals Committee is appointed by the Board of Directors and consists of a Chair and at least four members, all of whom are knowledgeable about the duties and responsibilities of panel members. The Chair may recommend the appointment of additional members to the committee.
